Last updated: 21/09/2026
1. About this policy
Apex Training Professional Development Inc., operating as Apex Training and PDApex (“we,” “us,” or “our”), provides self-paced online professional development courses and course bundles through pdapex.com.
This Privacy Policy explains how personal information is collected, used, disclosed, retained, and protected when you visit our website, create an account, purchase or complete courses, or communicate with us.
We handle personal information in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy laws, including British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act and, where applicable, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.
Our Director is responsible for privacy matters and can be contacted using the details below.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with our services, we collect or process the following information:
- Account and contact information: Your name, email address, account credentials, and information you provide when contacting us.
- Billing and transaction information: Your first and last name, country, postal code, purchases, payment status, and related transaction records.
- Learning information: Course enrolments, progress, time spent learning, quiz responses and scores, completion dates, and certificates.
- Communication preferences: Subscription choices, unsubscribe requests, and information relevant to your communication preferences. Where you provide a telephone number for communications with PDApex, this may include that number.
- Technical and usage information: Information generated when you use our website or learning platform, such as device and browser information, access logs, identifiers, and interactions with website pages and course content.
Payment services may collect additional information directly, as explained below. Please avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information in support requests or other correspondence.
3. How we use information
We use personal information for the following purposes:
- Creating and administering learner accounts.
- Processing purchases and providing access to courses.
- Recording learning activity, assessing completion, and issuing certificates.
- Responding to questions and providing customer support.
- Sending purchase confirmations, account notices, and other service communications.
- Sending promotional communications where we have the consent required by law or another lawful basis for sending them.
- Understanding website usage and improving our courses and services.
- Protecting accounts, investigating suspected misuse, and addressing payment disputes.
- Meeting applicable legal, tax, accounting, and recordkeeping obligations.
We do not require consent to unnecessary collection, use, or disclosure as a condition of purchasing a course.
4. Payments
Payments are processed through Thinkific Payments using Stripe. Payment card information is submitted through the payment interface for processing by the relevant payment providers.
Optional services displayed at checkout, such as Stripe Link, Afterpay, or Klarna, may collect and process additional information when you choose to use them. Their own privacy notices and terms apply to those services.
Providing a telephone number to a payment provider, including through Stripe Link, does not by itself constitute consent to receive promotional SMS messages from PDApex.
5. Thinkific and other service providers
Our website and learning services operate on Thinkific. Thinkific processes information needed to host the platform, administer accounts, deliver courses, maintain learning records, and support transactions.
We also use Google Analytics and may use authorized third-party email and SMS service providers to deliver communications on our behalf.
These services involve processing information relevant to their functions. This is separate from providing learner records to employers, professional bodies, or other organizations for their own purposes.
Some providers, particularly payment providers, also process information for their own legal, security, and operational purposes under their respective privacy policies.
For more information about the learning platform, see Thinkific’s Privacy Policy.
6. Disclosure of information
We do not sell or rent personal information or provide it to other businesses for their own marketing.
We do not routinely disclose course progress, quiz responses, scores, completion records, or certificates to BC Housing, employers, or other external organizations. Learners are responsible for submitting their own certificates where needed.
Information may be processed by the service providers described in this policy. We may also disclose information where required or permitted by applicable law, including in response to a lawful order or to address fraud, security incidents, or legal claims.
Any additional disclosure requiring your consent will be subject to that consent.
7. Promotional emails and SMS
We may send promotional emails and SMS messages about PDApex courses, offers, and services where legally permitted. Third-party communications platforms may deliver these messages on our behalf.
Receiving promotional communications is optional and is not a condition of purchasing a course.
You can unsubscribe by:
- Following the unsubscribe link in a promotional email.
- Replying STOP to a promotional SMS message.
- Using the marketing preference options available on our website.
- Contacting [email protected].
Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent us from sending necessary, non-promotional communications relating to your purchases, account, security, or support requests.
We do not sell, rent, or share mobile numbers or SMS consent information for another organization’s marketing. Messaging providers may process the information needed to deliver messages and manage subscription preferences.
8. Cookies and Google Analytics
Our Thinkific-hosted website uses cookies and similar technologies to support functions such as sign-in, sessions, and checkout.
We also use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use our website and to help improve its content and performance. Google Analytics processes information about website interactions and associated device, browser, and technical characteristics.
We do not currently provide a website cookie banner or an on-site control for rejecting optional analytics cookies.
You can manage or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking certain cookies may affect sign-in, checkout, or other website functions. Google also provides a Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on for supported browsers.
Contact us if you have questions about analytics or wish to withdraw consent to processing that relies on your consent.
9. Where information is processed and protected
Our learning platform is managed by Thinkific. Information processed through Thinkific and other service providers may be stored or accessed outside British Columbia or Canada, where it may be subject to the laws and lawful access requirements of those jurisdictions.
We rely on Thinkific’s platform safeguards for information hosted within its services. PDApex remains responsible for its own handling of personal information.
No online system or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure. Please keep your account credentials confidential and notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
10. Retention
Our standard retention period for purchase-related learner information, including associated learning records, is one year from the purchase date, subject to the exceptions below.
Certain information may need to be retained longer:
- Financial and transaction records required for tax or accounting purposes.
- Information subject to statutory retention requirements, including records used to make decisions directly affecting an individual.
- Records needed to resolve an outstanding dispute or comply with a legal preservation obligation.
- Limited consent and unsubscribe records needed to demonstrate compliance and respect communication preferences.
Information not associated with a purchase, such as an enquiry, is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for its purpose or as required by law.
When information is no longer needed, it is to be securely deleted or anonymized. Service providers may retain information for their own legal obligations under their applicable privacy policies.
This retention policy does not determine the period of course access included in a purchase.
11. Younger learners
Our courses focus on professional development. Where a learner cannot provide meaningful consent to the collection, use, or disclosure of their personal information, consent from a parent or legal guardian is required.
Parents or guardians with concerns about a young learner’s personal information should contact our Director. We will review the circumstances and take appropriate steps under applicable privacy law, which may include restricting processing or deleting information.
12. Your privacy choices and requests
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, or details about how we use and disclose it.
You may also withdraw consent, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice, or request account closure and deletion of information. Withdrawal may affect our ability to provide services that require the information. Deletion requests remain subject to applicable retention obligations.
Send requests to [email protected], addressed to the Director. We may request information reasonably necessary to verify your identity or your authority to act for another person.
We will respond within the time required by applicable law and explain any applicable limitations.
If you have a privacy complaint, please contact us. You may also raise concerns with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia or another privacy regulator with jurisdiction.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our services, practices, or legal requirements. The updated version will appear on our website with a revised date.
Where a change requires additional notice or consent, we will provide that notice or obtain consent as required by law.
Terms and Conditions
Apex Training Professional Development Inc. — PDApex
Last updated: 21/09/2026
1. About us and these terms
These Terms and Conditions govern the use of pdapex.com and the purchase and use of online courses and course bundles provided by Apex Training Professional Development Inc., operating as Apex Training and PDApex (“we,” “us,” or “our”).
“You” and “your” refer to the person using our website or purchasing or accessing our courses.
Please review these terms before purchasing. Your purchase agreement includes these terms and the course description, price, and other purchase details presented to you before checkout.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
2. Our courses
PDApex provides self-paced online professional development courses. Courses are delivered through our Thinkific-hosted learning platform and do not include live teaching sessions.
Course descriptions identify the subject matter, content, and applicable continuing professional development (“CPD”) credits. Please review this information before purchasing to ensure the course meets your learning needs.
Our courses are approved by BC Housing for the CPD credits specified for each course. Approval relates to the applicable course and does not mean that BC Housing operates PDApex or endorses all statements or opinions in our materials.
3. Accounts and learner responsibilities
You must provide accurate information when creating an account or making a purchase and keep your account information current. Your learner name must accurately identify the person completing the course and receiving the certificate.
Each course enrolment is for one learner. Account sharing is prohibited. You must not allow another person to access or complete a course using your account.
You are responsible for protecting your login credentials. Contact us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
You must have the legal capacity or authorization necessary to make a purchase. Where a learner cannot independently provide legally valid consent, an authorized parent or guardian must provide the necessary consent. These terms do not override legal protections applicable to minors.
4. Prices and payment
All prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD). Applicable taxes are identified at checkout, together with the total amount payable.
Course and bundle purchases are one-time purchases. They are not subscriptions and do not automatically renew.
Payments are processed through Thinkific Payments using Stripe. You must be authorized to use the selected payment method.
If you select a third-party payment or financing option offered at checkout, any separate arrangement with that provider is governed by its terms. Such an arrangement does not change PDApex’s course access period.
Prices and promotional offers may change for future purchases. Changes do not alter the agreed price of a completed purchase. Any conditions attached to a promotional offer apply as disclosed before purchase.
5. Immediate access and one-year access period
Course access is provided immediately after successful payment through the learner account associated with the purchase.
Access continues for one year from the date of purchase. For a bundle, the access period for the included courses begins on the bundle purchase date.
After the one-year period ends, access to the purchased course or bundle is deactivated.
The access period begins on the purchase date, regardless of when you first sign in or start learning. Delaying your start or leaving a course unfinished does not extend the access period.
You are responsible for completing your courses and downloading available certificates before access expires.
If successful payment does not result in access, contact [email protected] promptly with your purchase details so we can investigate and resolve the issue.
6. Refunds and cancellations
Online course and course bundle purchases are final and non-refundable, except where a refund or cancellation right is required by applicable law.
Subject to those legal rights, refunds are not available because you:
- Change your mind after purchase.
- Do not start or finish a course.
- Do not use all courses in a bundle.
- Allow your access period to expire.
- Experience a change in personal circumstances, availability, or learning needs.
Please review the course description, price, access period, and these terms carefully before completing payment.
This policy does not exclude remedies required by law for a failure to provide the purchased service or other circumstances giving rise to a statutory right.
If you believe a payment was duplicated, processed incorrectly, or made without authorization, contact us so we can investigate. This policy does not authorize us to retain amounts collected in error.
To raise a purchase issue or exercise an applicable cancellation right, contact us using the details in Section 17 and identify the relevant purchase. Nothing in these terms restricts a legally permitted method of giving notice.
7. Course completion and certificates
You must complete the course in full, including its required learning activities and assessments, to be eligible for a certificate of completion.
Purchasing a course, accessing its materials, or completing only part of it does not qualify you for a certificate.
Coursework must be completed by the registered learner. Impersonation, falsification of completion records, and alteration or misuse of certificates are prohibited.
A certificate confirms completion of the relevant course. It does not itself grant a professional licence, establish competence for every practical application, or guarantee licence renewal, employment, or a particular business outcome.
You are responsible for retaining your certificates and reporting your CPD completion to BC Housing or any other relevant organization. PDApex does not submit your learning records or certificates to BC Housing, employers, or other organizations on your behalf.
8. Technology and availability
You are responsible for having an internet connection and a device and browser capable of accessing the online learning platform and course materials. Any course-specific technical requirements will be identified in the relevant course information.
Our services depend on Thinkific and other technology providers. Temporary interruptions may occur because of maintenance, updates, internet problems, or technical incidents.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. However, this does not remove our obligation to provide the service purchased or any remedies available under applicable law.
Please report access difficulties promptly. We will take reasonable steps to investigate issues within our control and coordinate with the relevant provider where appropriate.
9. Intellectual property and permitted use
Course materials and website content, including videos, text, presentations, quizzes, graphics, branding, and downloadable resources, belong to PDApex or their respective licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws.
Your purchase gives the registered learner a limited, non-exclusive licence to access the purchased course during its access period and use expressly downloadable materials for personal learning and reference.
Unless we authorize it in writing or applicable law permits it, you must not:
- Copy, record, reproduce, sell, distribute, or publicly display course content.
- Share course materials or login credentials with other learners.
- Upload materials to public websites, shared repositories, or other learning platforms.
- Use our content to create or deliver another training product.
- Remove copyright notices, trademarks, or ownership information.
Purchasing a course does not transfer ownership of its content.
10. Acceptable use
You must use our website and services lawfully and in a manner that respects other people and the security of the platform.
You must not:
- Attempt to bypass access restrictions or gain unauthorized access.
- Introduce malware or interfere with platform operation.
- Use another person’s identity or payment details without authorization.
- Misrepresent course completion or CPD credits.
- Send unlawful, threatening, abusive, or harassing communications.
- Infringe our rights or the rights of others.
11. Suspension and termination
We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to investigate suspected account sharing, fraud, security threats, or another material breach of these terms.
Where appropriate, we will explain the concern and provide a reasonable opportunity to resolve it. Immediate action may be taken where necessary to protect accounts, systems, or other people.
We may terminate access for a substantiated serious breach or an unresolved material breach.
Any suspension, termination, or related refund decision remains subject to applicable law. This section does not permit us to withhold a remedy required by law.
12. Educational information and professional judgment
Our courses provide general educational information. They do not constitute advice tailored to a particular construction project, legal matter, financial decision, or individual circumstance.
Laws, codes, standards, and industry practices may change. Before applying course information, you should verify current requirements and obtain advice from an appropriately qualified professional where necessary.
You remain responsible for your professional decisions and practical work. Course completion does not replace licensing requirements, site-specific assessments, professional advice, or obligations imposed by law.
13. Course updates
We may correct errors and update course materials to improve clarity, accuracy, or relevance.
Updates will not be used to materially reduce the purchased service or shorten the agreed access period. If a material change affects our ability to provide a purchased course as described, we will notify affected learners and address the issue in accordance with applicable law.
14. Liability
We will provide our services with reasonable care and skill.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from the use of our services, including lost profits or business opportunities.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Nothing excludes mandatory consumer rights, statutory warranties, or remedies.
The educational nature of our courses does not excuse a failure to provide the service described at purchase.
15. Privacy and communications
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and retain personal information in connection with our services.
We may send communications necessary to administer your account, purchases, access, and support requests.
Accepting these terms does not, by itself, constitute consent to receive promotional emails or SMS messages. Marketing preferences and unsubscribe options are addressed in our Privacy Policy.
16. Governing law and changes to these terms
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the applicable federal laws of Canada, subject to any mandatory protections available to you in your province or territory.
Please contact us first if you have a concern so we can try to resolve it. Doing so is not a condition of exercising statutory rights, making a regulatory complaint, or starting a legally available proceeding.
We may revise these terms for future purchases by publishing an updated version. The version accepted at the time of purchase continues to govern that purchase unless a change is required by law or otherwise validly agreed with you.
If a provision is found unenforceable, it will be severed to the extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue to apply where legally possible.
